Annan Harbour Action Group appoints Cubby Construction Ltd as main contractor, with works beginning April 2026

After six years of planning, fundraising and community effort, work on the £15.65 million regeneration of Annan Harbour is finally getting underway. Carlisle-based Cubby Construction Ltd takes possession of the site on 7 April 2026, with a two-year build programme ahead of them. Cragg Management are providing project management services across RIBA Work Stages 4–7, supporting delivery through to completion.

The project will transform Annan's historic harbour basin and its Georgian sandstone warehouse into a vibrant destination — complete with a visitor centre and café, maritime heritage centre, leisure lagoon, event space, and accessible nature walks along the Ministers' Merse.

Mike Rodgers, Trustee at AHAG, said: "After many years of decline and neglect, the dreams and vision of a few determined people are about to be realised. Annan Harbour will be revitalised — an exciting new destination for people to enjoy."

Tom Morton of Arc Architects added: "This is the magic point when six years of talking and designing turns into two years of action."

Funded by the UK Government's Levelling Up Fund, the Scottish Government, and South of Scotland Enterprise, the regenerated harbour is expected to attract 11,000 additional visitors annually and generate an estimated £27 million in socio-economic benefits for the area. Community involvement opportunities — including planting, landscaping, training and employment — will be available as works progress.
