Our Role

Appointed as Project Manager, Employer’s Agent, Contract Administrator and Quantity Surveyor, we provided full project and cost management services throughout the lifecycle of the project. We worked closely with the client team to ensure the works were delivered on time and within budget, while managing complex statutory and legal requirements.

Our role included securing Arts Council England Round 2 funding and developing and implementing a robust fundraising strategy to support successful project delivery.

Project Details:

The project demolished the original Tara Theatre, retained the original facade and created a new purpose-built theatre.

The Tara Studio is an outstanding, new build, 100-seat, producing theatre with rehearsal and workshop facilities to create a space which houses the creative meeting of cultures. The project also created gallery, retail, catering and office spaces.

The project had extensive legal agreement requirements including Network Rail approvals and 11 party wall agreements.

CM's role was of Project Manager, Employers Agent and Quantity Surveyor. We worked closely with the Employer throughout to ensure that the works were completed on time and budget. CM secured the Arts Council England round 2 award and developed and implemented a robust and successful fundraising strategy.

The project has a high level of sustainability, achieving a BREEAM Very Good rating and the incorporation of extensive but focused environmental improvements including photovoltaic cells, rainwater harvesting and green roofs.

Funding:

  • Arts Council England

The success of any building project depends on having a good Project Manager. So, I was both delighted and consider myself fortunate, to have secured the services of Cragg Management when leading on the renovation of Tara Theatre from 2012 to 2016.

Nick Cragg unfailingly provided an empathetic interface between my vision for Tara Theatre and the varying demands others had in bring it to life - from architects and contractors, to local authorities and funders. Any building project is fraught; Cragg Management, by assuming the burden of worry, made renovation for me an enjoyable and exciting experience.
