Our Role
We were appointed to support the delivery of this complex heritage and regeneration project, coordinating conservation-led repair works, sustainable upgrades and the adaptation of the building for long-term community use. Our role included managing design development, statutory requirements and funding objectives to ensure the successful transformation of the building.
Project Details
Originally constructed to manufacture and distribute clay pipes, The Pipe Factory is a nationally significant industrial heritage asset. The project delivers extensive repair, conservation and refurbishment works to secure the building’s future while enabling inclusive public and community use.
The works included:
Extensive repair, restoration and conservation of the historic brick façades
Major roof repairs, replacement and insulation upgrades
Installation of new, heritage-sensitive windows
Provision of full accessibility throughout the building, including a new external lift shaft
Installation of new, sustainable and energy-efficient heating and power systems, including air source heat pumps and photovoltaic panels
Complete internal refit and fit-out to create flexible office and workshop spaces
Community & Engagement
The project is underpinned by a detailed and ongoing Activity Plan, delivering community engagement, education and outreach programmes to benefit the local and diverse population, ensuring the building operates as a genuine social and economic asset.
Funding & Programme
The project is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, with an overall project value of approximately £5 million.
