Project Overview
Description
Delivery of a new, National Lottery Heritage Fund–supported museum building providing purpose-built gallery, conservation and education facilities within the sensitive setting of a Scheduled Ancient Monument, supporting long-term public access to Arundel’s heritage collection.
Our role
We were initially approached by Arundel Museum Society in July 2009 to review initial scheme designs for a new Museum in Arundel. We were subsequently appointed as Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors for the preparation and submission of round 1 and round 2 funding applications to NLHF, both of which were successfully achieved. We were retained as delivery phase PMs, seeing the project through to completion with the museum opening to the public in July 2013. The project was delivered using a JCT Design and Build procurement route.

Scope and Outcomes
To deliver a town museum offering formal learning programme with local schools, informal learning and researcher access, volunteering opportunities and guided town tours. Recording and conservation of the collection to inform the design.

• Purpose-built public gallery for display of the collection
• Dedicated storage and conservation areas
• Multi-purpose education room enabling a new expanded activity plan
• Contemporary single storey building combining modern and traditional materials
