Our Role

We were appointed to manage the delivery of the project, coordinating design development and construction within an occupied building containing residential accommodation above and adjacent to the theatre. Our role focused on improving accessibility, performance flexibility and building services performance while maintaining operational continuity.

Project Details

The project involved a comprehensive internal refurbishment and targeted structural alterations to enhance the theatre’s functionality and audience experience.

The works included:

Expansion of the entrance provision and upgrade of the existing lift to improve accessibility

Structural alterations to remove columns within the lower ground floor rehearsal space, enabling greater flexibility for theatre productions

Improved acoustic separation between the main performance space and rehearsal areas

Full strip-out and replacement of mechanical and electrical systems with environmentally sustainable and energy-efficient installations, including modern controls

Internal strip-out and refit, including new seating, stage and café areas

The scheme significantly improved the operational flexibility of the theatre while addressing accessibility, acoustic performance and environmental efficiency within a tight urban footprint.
