Project Details:
The new gallery provides significantly greater access to the collection and touring exhibitions, not only through significantly improved display facilities, back of house workshop areas and print sales but also through the physical layout of the building with each floor accessible by lift.
CM developed the Photographers’ Gallery from concept through to completion acting primarily as the project manager developing the client brief, revising the design proposals following the recession resulting in a revised scheme that was on budget and fulfilled the clients brief.
The project involved the removal of the top floor of an existing office building, provision of 2 new floors and infilling of rear lightwell.
The interior space was converted to a new proposed gallery space including cafe and shop area.
