Project Details:
The project is to create a Transport Heritage and Resource Centre in an Edwardian tram depot in south Leicester. The Centre will enable the Trust to tell the fascinating story of local transport heritage.
The plan is to open up the old tram inspection pits to form an “under croft” exhibition area which involve the removal of some old stone staircases, to provide further interpretation on one half of the ground floor (allowing the other half to be used for vehicles) and to build a first-floor mezzanine along that same half where there will be educational areas and a viewing gallery. Two inner walls of the outbuildings will be removed to form a café and shop area.
